John King - Chair

65 years old. Born in Leeds, I moved to Kidsgrove when I was 16 years old. Married with 2 adult children and 4 grandchildren between the ages of 11 and 14. I started work at ICL in 1975 and worked for ICL/STC/D2D/Celestica for 32 years. I finished my career as a Project Manager for Alstom/GE in Stafford and have been retired for 5½ years. I enjoy volunteering and love being part of the PPG as it gives me the opportunity to give something back to the community and keeps my mind active.

Josephine Locke – Vice Chair

I have lived in Kidsgrove since 1970 and am now 77. I have variously been a Nurse, a Midwife and a Health Visitor across North Staffordshire. In particular, I specialised in helping new mothers to breastfeed. My husband and I have four children and a dozen grandchildren, with another on the way. We also have a great granddaughter. I formerly chaired Go Kidsgrove and am a member of Kidsgrove Town Deal Board. My husband and I are active members of St Thomas church.

Bev Rushton – Secretary

68 years old, lived in Kidsgrove since 1979. Married with 2 adult children and 4 granddaughters. My working life was in insurance and latterly a large NHS Dental Practice until I retired in 2017 . Both my husband (Bernard) and I are members of Whitehill Methodist Community Church. As well as being a member of the PPG I also am a volunteer reader at a Primary School in Tunstall. My hobbies include knitting, crochet, completing jigsaw puzzles and playing my clarinet.

Diane Jones

My background is in Travel and I worked for Thomas Cook for 16 years. I’m Married with 2 grown up children.

I joined our PPG as I wanted to give something back to our community.

I enjoy being outdoors, walking with my husband and dog, keeping fit by running and using weights.


Jill Loska

72 years old. Retired for almost 11 years. Worked as an early years practitioner for the Local Education Authority for 43 years. A member of Kidsgrove Sports Centre. I love baking, reading, 60’s music, jewellery making, sewing and crafts.

Grace Lowe

I have been a member of Mount Road Practice PPG since it started in 2019. It was still Dr Robinson and Partners PPG when it started. During this time, I have been involved in interesting projects that the PPG have been discussing. We were involved as stewards at the COVID Vaccination Clinics, Patients seemed to like chatting to us as they waited for their injections! and helping with the display boards in the reception to publicise different health awareness campaigns.  

Bernard Rushton

76 years old. My working life was in office equipment and stationery, and I was employed by JG Fenn for 32 years. I have been a member of the PPG since its inception. I am a member of Whitehill Methodist Community Church, and I am responsible for all publicity. I also volunteer at one of the Stoke on Trent Foodbanks. My hobbies include walking and watching Port Vale FC!

Jan Sanders

Age 78. born a Salford girl, the family moved south in 1959. Finished school and trained as a physio in London, worked as a physio for 50 years and loved it! Married in 1969, went to South Africa 1970, one daughter (1972) and returned to UK 1998, where we settled in Kidsgrove, and I worked for Bucknall and Haywood hospitals concentrating on the community, Our doctors surgery is one of the best I have seen, and am proud to represent it.
